Introduction to Programming the Spectral Information System SPECCHIO
Instructor: | Andreas Hueni, RSL, University of Zurich, ahueni@geo.uzh.ch |
Co-Instructor: | Helge Aasen, ETH Zurich, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, helge.aasen@usys.ethz.ch |
Tutorial Description:
This tutorial will focus on the programmatic access of the Spectral Information System SPECCHIO. Programmatic access unlocks the full potential of spectral information systems as custom data processing can be easily implemented by relying on higher-level system functions. In turn, the system is transformed from a spectral archive into a flexible research tool.
The tutorial will cover the following aspects:
- Selecting and accessing data stored in the spectral database (Spectral Data and Metadata)
- Inserting new metadata to augment existing spectral data
- Inserting new spectral data
- Extending the metadata schema to include new attributes
Background:
SPECCHIO is one of the most advanced spectral information systems in the remote sensing domain, designed to store spectroradiometer data and metadata. Deployment of the system is simplified by the SPECCHIO Virtual Machine, allowing instances to be run on single computers or within laboratory infrastructures. For more information please see: www.specchio.ch
Supported programming languages in this tutorial: Matlab & R
Prerequisites:
Participants need to either (a) bring their own laptops with the SPECCHIO VM and Matlab/R preinstalled, or (b) request access to the UZH IT infrastructure prior to the tutorial.
