Applications are invited for the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities related to engineering surveying with the Department of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering.
In particular, the role will mainly involve providing technical support for student practicals, field courses and projects, using all forms of engineering surveying techniques and their associated equipment, IT, software and date, including, but not limited to, levelling, total station work, GNSS, laser scanning, and photogrammetry. The successful candidate will be part of a team including a Senior Technical Officer, overseen by the Faculty Technical Operations Manager, and will be expected to work as part of this team to continuously improve their knowledge and understanding related to the engineering surveying techniques listed above.
This post is full-time (36.25 hours per week) and is offered on a permanent contract. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Salary: £23334 to £27830 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The future holder of the position contributes significantly to the ongoing process of focussing research activities in the field “Transformation of Metropolitan Spaces”, which is the core area of interdisciplinary research at the Department of Geography. By means of spatio-temporal analysis of geodata and heterogeneous mobile data, the spatial effects of societal and economic transformation processes shall be investigated. This research will contribute significantly to the interdisciplinary research field “Digital Transformation in Economy and Society”. The willingness for an active cooperation in the Interdisciplinary Center for Geoinformation (IZG) at RUB is expected as well as the active participation in the UAR (University Alliance Ruhr) field of competence “Metropolitan Research”.

For the project Cosmic Sense, starting in January 2019, we are looking for a research assistant with a background optical (best hyperspectral) remote sensing and experience in digital image processing. Experiences in using drones and skills in active remote sensing are desirable as well as a background in hydrology or ecology.
